Big difference in Floyd's pattern with a massive trough extending down from the Upper Ohio/Valley and a ridge in the ATL, with a weakness through it that steered Floyd into NC ...

ECMWF Day 6, much different synoptic setup with a height maxima along an extension located in South Carolina of the WATL ridge on Day 6 and continuing into Day 7 ... with no trough close enough to spare Florida, according to the ECMWF 12z 8/29/04 run ...

Notice on the reanalysis maps on Floyd's approach to Florida, the large PV in Eastern Canada on Sept 15th, 1999 at 00z ...

September 15th, 1999 @ 00z - Click HERE to view

NOW, look at the ECMWF 12z Day 6 Progs ... no PV in Eastern Canada ... ridging in response to a Western Trough and another trough over Newfoundland.

Day 6 ECMWF 12z 8/29/04 TIME SENSITIVE!!!
