Some prof mets on here were talking about the trough that is north of the system being mostly zonal. I am guessing east to west oriented as opposed to digging in and creating a SW/NE flow. I think they were saying this has a tendency to feed the ridge and cause it to expand. Anyway, I was just curious if this is the type of pattern that might be expected more often if we truly are entering an era of more east coast landfalls and particularly the Florida peninsula, or are these conditions impossible to predict? I know most of you guys are busy looking at models and giving everyone information about Francis right now, and rightly so, but I thought I would throw this question out there to anyone who wants to discuss it.
