Sharp turn after landfall.

#1 Postby JQ Public » Tue Aug 31, 2004 11:13 pm

The sharp northwestern turn after landfall is very interesting. What is the logic behind the turn after landfall. What factors could make the turn come earlier?...later?

I tell you one thing if this track were to verify it'd be baaad news. That angle would spread hurricane force winds along a lot of the coast due to the eye being close to the coast and this nnw-ward movement. Not to mention flooding would be very bad as well, especially around the Ga coastline since it kinda has that bowl like configuration. Hope this doesn't come to pass.

Yeh that would definitly mean bad news for much of the untouched Ga coastline as well as NW Fl.

Look how slow the track is also. And all the major cities are to the west of the track. That map is 'ouch' all over it. Flooding a huge problem if that verifies. Could make the flooding that occured in Richmond with Gaston very widespread and probably even more severe.

^Definitly, so you're saying that after landfall the storm will recurve from nw->n->ne and ride up the coast?
