S. FL Residents - Prepare for FRIDAY MORNING Landfall

#1 Postby wxman57 » Wed Sep 01, 2004 5:07 am

That's right, you don't have until this weekend, you have until Friday morning to prepare. Remember that Frances is not a small dot, it's a very large area of high winds. Our latest forecast has "landfall" up near Palm Beach to Melbourne on Saturday morning. BUT, 25-39 mph sustained winds reach the southeastern Peninsula as early as pre-dawn on Friday. And if Frances decides to continue WNW instead of making the NW jog and slowing, you'll be hit by TS force winds on Friday morning and the center could cross the coast by Friday afternoon. You will not be able to do anything but stay home and ride it out by Friday, particularly if Frances deviates any to the left.

So all preparations need to be completed immediately. If you're planning to evacuate, you will need to leave tomorrow morning to avoid being stuck in a parking lot.
