I have to admit that the posters on this board puzzle me. Why are you only satisfied if the forecast is for a Florida hit? I agree that the current trends are in that direction, but history and some of the current reliable model runs back up the fact that this storm has the possibility of a more northward turn once it reaches the Bahamas. A forecaster in SC would not be doing his job if he did not alert the residents to this possibility--over a holiday weekend no less. I do not think that accusing this meteorologist of "-removed-" for "ratings" is appropriate. Trust me, people in SC and NC have seen enough storms to not be wishing a new one their way. Only time is going to tell which model is correct. And models love to change over time. Residents in GA and SC should be doing some basic preparations, and residents in Florida should be doing much more than that. But there is no 100% guarantee that this storm is going to hit Florida only........and to say otherwise is foolish. I don't understand why everyone has a fit if a map like this one is posted on this board.

No joke! All week we've seen people from NC/SC talk about this storm hitting them for sure.
You have to look at the components. Frances has been moving west for days now.... and yes WNW is still west. It's gotta move W NW to hit central Flordia or it would enter the gulf of mexico if it moved West only.
This whole NW turn thing is still floating around. If you are in Flordia... you got between 48-72 hours to make up your mind. It's that simple.
South Carolina can be prepared.... things do happen, but let's focus on the situation at hand. That storm can hit as early as Friday!
