Current forecast??
I've been afraid to look at it since I got back from Home Depot at 11:00 and heard on TWC that landfall will be at Vero Beach (again!). What's the latest? I'm having this sick feeling that all my preparations will be for nothing.I'm doing all I can and my neighbors seem to be doing little or nothing. Do they know something I don't or are they just foolish?

WorryWart your neighbors are in denial. You have prepared and have a plan. We MUST prepare for the worst and hope for the best. The best would be that you did not need your shutters and supplies because the storm went elsewhere. So what if all your preparations are for naught. Would't that be a good thing? Yesterday many people were getting gas and plywood and some businesses put up shutters. I am from Vero too.

Always better to be prepared for the NEXT storm if it goes elsewhere than to not be prepared at all. Also, it's always better to prepare earlier. You don't find that the sore is out of what you need, and it's less stressful to be at home and allow all of the panicky last-minute types to fight over the last jar of peanut butter or bottled water.
Worst case scenario .. you'll have to find a place to store your plywood over the winter, and you won't be thirsty for quite some time!

I've secured every thing the best that I can and am just about to the point that if I was going to leave I don't have much time left to do it but for a lot of reasons I'm too scared to risk it now any way. I guess I'm committed to staying since I have no destination I could get to in the time left to me. Every time I look at the weather reports I start to go to pieces; I don't know if I can mentally hold it together through this storm whatever I decide to do.
