Broken satellite loops?

Is it just me or are the last 4 images of the GOES floater 1 the same? GOES 2 is broken too. Does the NHC have better stuff than we get to see on the internet?

Someone posted earlier that during the spring/autumnal equinoxes the satelittes experience temporary eclipses due to the earth blocking the sunlight from hitting the solar panels. He said the eclipse only lasts for a couple of hours.

Thanks for the info. So they don't have any images right now? All that technology and its "out of batteries"!

they are back up now......still very unimpressive sat signature....really doesnt look like much more than a cat1/2 storm which we may have real soon if things dont turn around.....

The visible satellite on the NOAA site shifts to an IR (infrared) channel once the sun has set. Remember, IR basically detects the temperatures of the cloud tops, so this is available 24 hours a day. Visible images are only available during the day.
