Flooding

SlSSSLLLLOOOOOOWWW Frances, is probably gonna be one of the big floodmakers of hurricane history. Of course we dont know the future, but it sure is starting to look like Flood Francis 2004.

Yes we live in North Palm Beach County, we are extremely flood prone in my neighborhood. I spent hours making sandbags with golf course bunker sand and trash bags because no sandbags were available.

jadesq - i live in PBG, where are you. I'm also pretty concerned. My parents are just a couple of miles away and they have one of those run-off canals behind their house. Flooded with that Oct. storm and Erin (i think)

I totally agree - The HPC shows their forecast of an 18" max over central FL - I think there will be very isolated locales that see up to two feet. This is a concern in 5 or more days, but Frances may cause flooding up through the TN and OH valleys as well. The front in the Rockies is forecast to stall out as the upper flow deamplifies and becomes parallel to it - somewhat in response to Frances and a strengthening eastern ridge. Last year when Grace was slowly moving down in the Gulf, the upper flow was steering all sorts of deep tropical moisture up towards the Midwest. A front was stalled near Indy and a 1-day precip record ended up falling (over 7"). I fear the same sort of setup next week. She'll probably feel her way towards that front and the convergence along it will force all sorts of convection. The models have been trending further and further west after 90 hours, so it seems like a possibility. Anyway, there is a hell of a lot more to worry about now so I'll stop talking about the Midwest in the Tropical room. :)

Hey, I am in the PGA national neighborhood, towards the west backing up to the large preserve which usually floods over. We shall see won't we.
Square Lake off Northlake BLVD is probably the worst flood prone area in the entire state, not sure if you live there.
