Radar: Center of Circ Huge, very confusing

#1 Postby THead » Fri Sep 03, 2004 6:05 pm

According to Miami radar, center of circuation is widening, looks huge. The western edge of the center looks to be only like 100 miles due east of ft laud. Frances looks like she's dying right now. Hopefully it doesn't get resurrected.

Remember that at a distance of 180 miles you are not getting a good picture of whats going on at the surface. Thats the nature of radar. Most likely at those distances you are actually seeing things at a much greater distance above the surface. This is why its best to use the whole range of tools at your disposal rather than just one item

Meanwhile... the sattalite indicates that it is becoming better organized, with thunderstorms building a west side CDO.

Since she's far out the angle of the radar beam cannot pick up all the rain; Just the rain with taller cloud tops.

Just think, by a matter of a few degrees and God's grace we dont have a Cat 2,3 or 4 stuck over Miami, Ft Lauderdale and WPB, spinning away in a frenzy of destruction..

yeah, i'm looking at sat loops and wind maps too. was also implying that if/when it reforms an eye, its going to be alot closer to the florida coast than thought, being that the western edge is just south of freeport right now, which is about 90 miles east of ft laud.

Good show on short-range now. That LLC looks huge. It also looks to be drifting toward the coast.....slowly.

Hey, if this thing keeps expanding, maybe it'll hit Miami and NC.
