Why does a hurricane lose its eye?
What does it mean?
And is this really a good thing?

What does losing the eye mean exactly?

A Hurricane Loses it's Eye
when the convective processes in the storm are no longer able to maintain the organized structure of the storm-it's a sign of weakening whether due to a change in the storm environment such as is the case now or when the storm moves over land. It's a good sign if you don't wish to see death and destruction descend upon an area and a bad thing if you are insane and want to see a major hurricane hit people.
