Why is Frances not moving? And if it stays pretty much stationary does that mean the longer it sits the more water it sucks up? This is not good, I don't think for us in central florida....

The currents that cause the storm to move have collapsed. It will move, slowly, towards Florida. Expect when it makes landfall to be moving at 5-10 mph. Very bad flood threat and it will also prolong the damaging wind(although it won't spread as far inland since it will weaken quicker).

are we talking noah's ark flooding or just really really bad flooding like knee high flooding. I live in an gated apartment complex home that only has about 6 inches of concrete height from the ground. Should I go get sandbags??

depends on where you live and how much rain you have had. if the ground is already saturated that would be bad news. and just because it's knee deep standing water doesn't mean that it's not bad news. it will mess up the water system, ie drinking water and other utilities. also standing water at knee height can cause trees to topple because there is nothing to hold them down, snakes and other critters looking to find a dry place

Not Noah's Ark flooding(I HOPE!!! ) but some places will see 2 feet of rain. Widespread 10-15" amounts.

Does the water drain TOWARDS your apartment or away?

Hi, bwstg -- Sand bags are already gone, and the stores are closed anyway. Best thing to do at this point is start getting your stuff elevated. Look around at floor level and up a foot, decide what is most valuable, and move it up to tables and countertops. Furniture can be put up on blocks or anything else you may have around.

Been through a few "wet ones". Luckily we don't get flash flooding like more hilly states get, but if it happens, it will usually start seeping under sliding glass doors and french doors first.

Good luck!
