I am NOT saying this is going to happen...but if Ivan stays on the TPC forecast track and omes over Haiti...it wil be weakened and be left in the Bahamas as a category 1 hurricane...and in a position that could threaten south Florida.
Displaced residents...especially those in Dade county...may be hesitant to get out again given the NECESSARY overwarning from hurricane Frances.
There is some chance that this system will continue on to the west and miss Florida...but it may not. Residents there have to think about this system...as it could get dicey late in the week.

I agree. We had such an issue down here - people in Dade County (almost) needlessly in shelters for 4ish days...gas shortage statewide....things could be really bad should Ivan threaten here at week's end. I know our local mets & mayor are saying most people might as well leave shutters up because of the threat of Ivan. It's just going to be crazy at the end of the week. I'm also afraid that people might not heed the warnings....*sigh*

I cannot tell you the number of times I have boarded up my house and prepared for a hurricane and nothing happened.
but does that mean I don't prepare?
nope!
you just have to prepare each and every time because we never know. Just the time you don't prepare is the time you get hit!
If my island is anywhere in that projected cone, I make sure I am ready for anything that comes!
