Is it likely at all that Ivan would hit S Fla?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Patrick - I said the same thing when I saw that 5 day path - and laughed...you just can't help it.

As for leaving shutters up, all the local mets are basically saying to leave them up, just take down a few for safety reasons (bedroom escapes, etc.) because of Ivan. No point in taking them all down only to have to put them back up, possibly, in a couple days - geez....too much!

Still 6-7 days out at least. Unless they're a real pain in the ass to put up, take em down.

We're leaving the plywood up on all but two windows and leaving all our hurricane supplies at my in-laws (where we'll ride out any storm that heads this way). I really don't feel like packing it all up just to have to unpack it again in a week or so!

Yup.....*just* outside of the 5-day cone at this point. Imagine if it outpaces that track just a little......we could be under a hurricane watch on Friday and they might have to postpone the Miami-FSU game, AGAIN........though to be honest, I think both schools (and ABC) will do their very best to get that game played!

The toughest thing I would think would be all of the traffic from everyone wanting to get home and then turning back around to evacuate again. Especailly if gas is tough to get I can not imagine it being anything less than a nightmare. I hope alot of people stay put in case this becomes a threat.
