Differenc in Florida Peninsula vs Florida Panhandle

I heard a reporter today mention the Panhandle as the Peninsula. To me this can cause confusion . Not trying to offend anyone. Thank-You

Yes it can cause confusion,especially when you're talking about a hurricane.
