sure has and is getting healthier....I thought that a high forward speed hindered development?....but this has proven that wrong

Your both...... wrong....... im sorry
Fast speed does inhibit development of tropical systems..... and NO Ivan is not proving that wrong....
Fast forward motion inhibits weaker systems from maintaing a closed LLC..... hence Earl......hence Bonnie....hence Claudette....... etc. Weaker systems cant close off a west wind when they are moving so fast, however stronger systems already have that closed LLC and will likely maintain it

No, there IS a forward speed myth....
People got the mistaken impression that nothing moving faster than 15-16 kts couldn't develop at all, from a variety of storms that degenerated into open waves.
Any TC can move at any forward speed and develop as long as there isn't any storm-relative shear; the problem with the fast moving storms that had problems is that various levels of the atmosphere were moving at different speeds. Also many of the "it's MOVING TOO FAST!" storms actually had more problems from dry air than forward movement speed.
Hopefully Ivan will also finally kill off the moronic myth abouth there "Not being enough Coriolis" south of 10N too.
