Still no power. More rain.... expecting "eyewall" (or lack thereof) to come hit soon, so it should get worse.

Still have about 155 mins on battery.

I am also in Lakeland. We had the wind, it was not as intense as Charley and lasted 4 times as long. We have the usual dead palm fronds and bark down. We have the back yard littered with citrus of the trees and green oak leave sprigs. So far all is well. We had some light flickers but no loss of power at this point. I am afraid that if we lose our power it will be because of some one having cabin fever and hitting a utility pole with a vehicle.

Lots of rain and some pretty big gusts now in south tampa. I wish I had power. Gotta turn of box to save APC power again

Well, our wind event for Frances in south Lakeland far exceeded Charley both in the length and in the speeds of the gusts. Must have even been worse on the southside of Scott Lake.

But we never lost power. :D

Still ok in Hyde Park

#66 Postby South Tampa » Sun Sep 05, 2004 3:17 pm

I haven't lost power yet in Hyde Park, I knew this thing was going to come out at Tampa, what happened to all of the local met's saying it was coming out at Spring Hill or Bayonet Point. :?: This reminds me of Erin when it came through back in 95. Only reason I woke up for that one was the power went out.

Just got my power back in Feathersound. Drainage pond is rising, I figure I can take another six hours of rain before it floods.
Having power is great, nothing like plenty of hot coffee to raise your spirits.

Its raining and raining and raining with gusty winds in northwestern hillsborough county. So far little flooding on our street but the ground can't take much more. If Ivan comes calling we are in trouble.

There's a Subway and an Eckard's open here in Pinellas on Ulmerton west of Roosevelt.

Saw a convoy of electrical trucks entering town on the way back.

Hope this rain ends soon.

We just got back from taking my daughter to work at Bayfront Hospital. The marina down by the Pier has water up to the parking lot. The docks are completely submerged. Here close to home a lot of trees are down. We saw a couple of masts sticking out of the water in Boca Ciega Bay so a couple of boat owners have very bad news coming. :-(

power lost

#72 Postby DaylilyDawn » Mon Sep 06, 2004 1:39 pm

We lost power last evening about 6:30 pm and didn't get it back until about 2:00 pm today We had no damage to our house but our tv antenna is going to have to be replaced. The tree in the front yard has a few branches that were split but remained attached to the tree. Getting some sleep last night was impossible due to a sign on the road being whipped back and forth making noise loud enough to keep us awake. The heat was making all of us irritable but sitting outside in the hallway of the front door the wind would blow in there and it was fairly cool just sitting there by myself.
