As of 5 minutes ago, my life is back to normal (Frances)

8 hours without power yesterday.
2 days without cable modem.

Cable modem just came back and I can now ditch AOL ...

Most importantly, I can watch satellite loops again. ;-)

Leaving the hurricane shutters up though.

Congrats---the worst part of any storm is losing the things in life we tend to take for granted---namely, power and the internet!!!

Yeah, no kidding. Everyone I know here in Miami is stressed out from losing a combination of their power, cable and internet connection. Add to that being enclosed in dark houses and stuck indoors with all their family members for a few days straight. ;-) Then there's the uncertainty of the Ivan situation. Of, yeah. At the gym this morning everyone mentioned eating way too much food.

We got off easy here though.

I called my friend in Coral Springs, FL, who is without electricity, and she said her husband is sitting in his chair staring at the blank TV set. She cannot wait to go back to work. :roll:

Yeah a long hot shower is a great thing after losing power and so is a fresh pot of hot coffee. Though reading by candlelight was kind of cool.

Water and power just came on here in Melbourne (Brevard County). Hot shower and all was awesome... but no coffee ever tasted so GOOD as fresh-brewed on the Coleman stove outside the front door, huddled under an umbrella between feeder bands, after the northern eyewall had passed.
