Tropical Storm Frances has made landfall near St. Marks Florida. As of 2 PM EDT, it was centered at 30.1 north, 84.1 west, Frances is drifting slowly northward at 8 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 65 mph. The central pressure is 980 millibars (28.94 inches).
Tropical-storm force gusts extend out 85 miles from the center. A hurricane warning is in effect for the coast of Florida from the Suwannee River to Indian Pass. A tropical storm warning is in effect from the Suwannee River to Anna Maria Island, and from Indian Pass to Destin.

The coast continues to take a pounding; a storm surge of 6-10 feet above the normal tide levels seem likely from about Cedar Key northward; 3-6 feet farther south on the Gulf coast of Florida. The Florida east coast is still being pounded, as well.
Huge amounts of rain and isolated tornadoes will continue to affect the Southeast as Frances moves slowly northward.

Powerful Hurricane Ivan, as of 2 PM EDT, was centered at 11.4 north, 54.4 west, or about 360 miles east-southeast of Barbados. Ivan is moving west at 22 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 115 mph, making it a category 3 hurricane. The central pressure is 969 millibars (28.61 inches). We expect Ivan to move through the eastern Caribbean Islands tomorrow afternoon.

Elsewhere in the Atlantic basin, we have a strong tropical wave along 31 west, south of 15 north. A tropical wave is in the eastern Caribbean, along 82 west, south of 18 north.

FYI, I saw Joe Bastardi on Fox News earlier. He said his gut feeling was the storm was going in the GOM.
