How many of you live in S.Florida?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Cape Coral here...
We got brushed by "only" 95-100 MPH winds with Charley and storm debris is EVERYWHERE, 3-1/2 weeks later and the pickups haven't been made due to the extensive damage to our area (Sanibel/Captiva, Pine Island/Bokeelia, Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte).... Yeah, I'm "-removed-" a bunch of potential missiles in my neighborhood :grr: I'll "calm down" once the threat passes, whether or not it actually follows in Charley's footsteps or it goes to the Panhandle, or to MS, or to TX, or to wherever any other "people I disagree with" want it to go. I'm not in panic mode by any stretch, but am prepared as best I can be.

Thanks for your kind concern. :D

I'm in St Petersburg. I lost power for 3 days, luckily that was all. If anyone wants Ivan...they can have him. Please. I have been trying to take care of myself & 4 cats, my mom @ my parents house (as my dad is out of the country), my office (as my boss is in CA) in between praying to the patron saint of oak trees. I'm a nervous wreck & have no qualms saying so. So I will take a deep breath & try to relax but until we're not in Ivan's sight I'm doubtful that will happen.

West Palm Beach, (Loxahatchee)

Lost power at 9:40am Saturday morning and it was restored by 4pm Sunday. Lost phone service until yesterday. No cable still. So no tv for us.

A lot of grocery stores remain without power. No milk, water, ice, or perishables on the shelves. When the stores with power do get a shipment in, the folks here are so greedy they are loading up their carts with 6 and 7 loaves of french bread and then there are some of us just begging for one loaf.

The stores need to start putting limits on what people can buy. It's a shame.

Coral Springs, Florida. Have family in Naples. We lost no power, thank God.

We're all nervous about Ivan and it does seem that FL has a big bullseye on her back.

If it goes up the west coast, THIS time my sister and all are coming here. They're not screwing around after the near-miss with Charley over there. And if it bends and comes up our coast, we'll go over there.

If it comes up the middle, both of us will bend over and kiss our butts goodbye. :D

I'm in the Dunedin area and wondering if anyone has heard how many miles across Ivan is.

I got off very easy with Frances - power only out 2 1/2 hours and no damage. I'm wishing everyone the best with "weathering" Ivan.

We're in N. Naples on the SW coast of FL. Frances was not much of a weather maker for us except for exceptionally high winds-very little rain and no surge. We didn't lose an utilities (of course, I had just bought a new generator.) There is little in the way of supplies and gas is hard to find (gas cans are impossible). Fortunately food is still available.

Charley, on the other hand, ruined the landscape and left us without electricity for 3 days. Fortunately, we had no structural damage. We evacuated inland and north for Charley as we are 1/4 mile from the Gulf.

Nervous? You bet! I'm probably one of the best prepared people in this area but I'm still scared to death. My mind says "don't worry, there is nothing more you can do and maybe Ivan won't come this way". My stomach and heart are telling me differently-those are things you can't control, try as I might. I've even told myself I would stay away from this board and not get so riled up but as we all know it's addictive and I have to know what is happening. LOL

Miami-Dade/Broward Line here

Not much damage; never lost any power, not even Direct TV which didn't even as much fade out during the winds; only damage to my house (if u can call it that) is half the shingles from my roof were blown off

I've lived through Andrew so I know what a Cat 4-5 does and I just hope that this storm becomes a fish into the ocean
