WOW. That is incredible!! It is so perfect, it looks fake. Just remember if it does reach that legendary cat 5 he is sure not to stay there. I've been tracking storms since 1974 (fifth grade) and grew up in hurricane country (Louisiana), now live in hurricane alley (Florida). Hurricanes Gilbert and Allen were perhaps the most awesome storms I can remember, Mitch not far behind, but even they didn't hold that strength. It takes a very delicate balance of a lot of factors to keep them that way for very long. This is not to say that he couldn't become a 5, weaken somewhat and get back to 5 status prior to landfall. sure hope that doesn't happen. He sure is a thing of beauty tonight though, isn't he?

I certainly hope that this storm is peaking now. It shouldn't hold this intensity for days. This is almost as close to "perfect" as a hurricane becomes. I can't wait to see if it is still classified as a cat 4 at 11. I would think that it will be, but it certainly looks like a 5 right now...

The central pressure drops over the past several hours have alluded to this possibility and now it is visible on the floater.
