Texas Weather Pattern and Ivan?

To my understanding we here in Houston are suppose to be under the influence of High Pressure that should keep Ivan away. But how come there is a southeasterly flow and scattered T-Storms are increasing and pushing NW well into the Hill country? Isn't High Pressure suppose to limit storm activity?

A tropical wave moved inland over south Texas yesterday, creating a more unstable atmosphere than what we have seen.

We've had scattered showers here in Austin since 5:30 this morning.

But its nothing to do with Ivan.

I am in the Cy Fair area, and we have been getting scattered tropicial downpours all day... Which is good, cause we need the rain! I almost forgot what the rain and thunder sounded like!!

i for one would't be surprized if they go further west at 5pm with track, as they have been doing for last 4 days. Not as far as texas though.

Models moved East, if anything it will be moved east. Pensacola is my guess.

Funny (or ironic) thing is that the weather we are experiencing here in Dallas was just reported to be moving WNW. . .

YankeeGirl--Can you send some of that rain down my way in League City. We have had only 1.3"'s of rain since our wet June ended. The seabreeze always starts north of us and then blows up and moves farther inland. My last water bill was like an electric bill. I'm about to give up and let the yard become a desert. I guess the dry summer is better than Florida's problems though.
