Hurricane Ivan is much more intense than were Hurricanes Lili, Georges, Opal, Andrew, Elena, Frederic, Eloise, and Betsy, all historic hurricanes to have made landfall along the northern Gulf coast. Hurricane Ivan is expected to be similar to Hurricane Audrey, a very strong category four hurricane, when it reaches land.

That is quite a statement.

Derek--
Any new thoughts on Jeanne. Supposed to be at 26.5 N and 77.2 W in abacos on Sat-tues. Looks like just where Jeanne is going.

Derek ,
I have a question also about Jeanne why is accuweather projected map difference than the 5 pm NHC projected path what gives? accu. shows her going through FL and NHC has her coming NW
now i don't know what to think about this. Any thoughts ????

Thanks derek for your accurate forecasts. For the last week, my husband would ask"What does your guy think" referring to you. We're here in mobile riding this thing out. we live about 2 miles from the bay on a river. The house made it through camille and Frederic, so we decided to stay. i just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate what you do and the obvious time you put into bringing us level-headed forecasts and observations. Good luck to you on your career, and next time I'll be tuned in to your site.

I want to THANK YOU again for your on spot plotting of these past hurricanes(Charley,Frances,Gaston,Ivan and now Jeanne).
You are the man that is obviously up on his game.
Please do not let the tension some have expressed on this board to make you discontinue posting your discussions and graphics.
You are becoming my new Dr. John Hope!!!
