let's assume 2 different hurricanes:
One of them is a category 3 all the way to landfall.
The other is a category 5 which weakens to a category 3 hurricane 35 miles from landfall.
Will the second one produce a much larger tidal surge? How much larger?
Do the tidal surge effects dissipate quickly as a hurricane weakens?
Residual surge effects of weakening Cat 5 hurricane ..
