Atlantic vs. Eastern Pacific, So Far....

Atlantic Ocean

Eastern Pacific Ocean

Summary:

The Atlantic is already over the usual number of tropical systems. In the other side, the Eastern Pacific is the below their usual number of tropical cyclones in all categories.

Is it just me or are Atlantic hurricanes more likely to make landfall?

You are right, usually the Atalntic Hurricanes form near Africa and moves toward the Americas. In the Eastern Pacific, they form near Mexico and 95% of them move toward the Central Pacific.

When TD 1, then Alex developed in the Atlantic, the Pacific had already 4 tropical storms, 2 hurricanes and 1 major.
