But, dh and I are supposed to go down to Hillboro Beach (deerfield?) to visit his parents at their timeshare tonite, we would be back late Saturday morning. So as usual when I saw the latest track, I get into "panic" mode and am seriously debating going down there, because I dont want to be seperated from my son (17.5, hes staying here to watch our dog and school on Friday). Granted hes old enough to put the shutters back up, etc but just the thought of possibly being stuck in traffic (possible evac?)and other thoughts racing thru my head right now. Now I never said dh had to stay, he could go w/ our 4 yr old and I would stay w/ our 2 yr old.
Well Im off the find my stash of Hershey Ba
TIA Barb
Scuse Me for Panicing.................

So the current thinking is, our local met (Chris Farrell) is saying a possible hit by Sunday at 2AM. So is that hit based on the storm moving 3 miles an hour or based on it picking up speed. If it picks up speed, will it be here sooner?

P.S. I meant to say Hershey Bars before and yes I found them!LOL!

Hey bosag!
I work for the Town of Jupiter. We're holding off until we see the 11 am track. If there is no change in the projected track or if it shifts even farther west, the management team will be meetiing this afternoon to begin planning and preparations for the possible arrival of Jeanne.

IMHO, one of the biggest problems with channel 12 and 5 is that their viewing area is so broad. With a viewing area that extends from Sebastian to Boca, a direct hit from Jeanne in one of those places doesn't mean a direct hit in the other.
Of course, contending with tropical storm force winds if Jeanne hits north of Boca/Deerfield Beach will still be no picnic.

Speaking of WPB Television News...
Just a rant on the local news here in the West Palm area that I've been wanting to get off my chest since Frances:
ABC: Irrelevant
NBC: The best, but still bad
CBS: Pathetic
* Tiffany Kenney = clueless. She was cute when she was 25. Now she's just a dumb 30-something blonde. They are a dime a dozen.
* Curt Fonger and Liz Quirantes are wannabees. They have no business even being on the Fox 10 PM broadcasts, yet alone the main station. The only talent they have at that station (in more ways than one) is Suzanne Boyd, and they hide her at 5AM. Suzanne is cute, perky, and doesn't pretend to be anything but a news bunny.
* Laurel Sauer and Whassisname who used to have the toupee are serviceable, but we deserve better.
* Ironically, the two BEST anchors in the area are both part time contributors for the NBC station - Chandra Bill and Tim Malloy. While Tim is a complete flake (I know this from experience), he's still head and shoulders above the toupee guy - his reporting abroad speaks for itself. Chandra, well she is in a league by herself in THIS market. It's no wonder that the two of them were #1 for years down here.
* You could actually witness the disdain that Sackett (I now remember his name) has for Tim Malloy. I think the same is true for Sauer and Chandra.
* If I were the ABC station, I would offer the sun and the moon to these two to get them to come out of "retirement" and they would blow the other two away.
* As far as the mets go, John Matthews is still the best, and has a LOT of supporting cast around him. NBC also has lots of talent. ABC is again, irrelevant.
