Bad news on generators

#1 Postby nativeflacracker » Thu Sep 23, 2004 3:23 pm

All Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. diverted any shipments of generators coming to S. Florida to N. Florida & Alabama after Ivan. Seems like we are kinda cornered here for getting supplies down here whereas the northern part of the state has a wide swath of states around them for supplies to be on the way you would think. Guess no one could fathom another one would be on the way so soon.

We can't get them here either. None to be found. Lowes in Jax said it will be weeks before they get more.

Somewhere in the chaos of Ivan, I remember people being arrested for price gouging needed items. . . want to say in Louisiana, just because my main interests are there during hurricane season.

People who take advantage of a crises should be fined heavily and put on house arrest at the very least.

If I understand correctly, the reverse was true just before Ivan struck (no generators in LA/MS/AL because they'd all been sent to FLA).

Maybe they will rethink their distribution strategy and tailor it by using information from the NHC.

I have a brand new one in the box that I bought last month if you know of someone who would want to buy it in Alabama/Florida Panhandle. (For the price I purchased it at Lowes.)
