Jeanne's Outflow...

#1 Postby bahamaswx » Thu Sep 23, 2004 5:06 pm

...is looking much better this evening. It has expanded in all quads, other than the NW...where it was already looking good anyway.

Very odd though the cloudtops are alot warmer. I see no deep reds or oranges for that matter.

She is still over the cooler water - that is basically the only thing restricting the deep convection right now. The NHC forecasters have made mention that the warmer water is located west of 72W, so I'd expect deepening later tonight or tomorrow as she crosses this line. She's definitely got the outflow and lack of shear going for her. W/ the warmer waters ahead, the only probable hinderance as far as development goes is dry air. Something else of note, it is very clear in IR and WV images that there is deep NE to ENE flow north of the cyclone. This is partially flattening the northern outflow, but it seems likely to me that this will stear Jeanne towards the WSW. That would increase the threat to southern FL.

noticed the same thing, intensity is always a (dare I say) BEAR to forecast (hopefully that will be my first and last attempts at humor here on the board)
