Some current calculations for Hurricane Jeanne

#1 Postby ColdFront77 » Sat Sep 25, 2004 5:07 pm

1pm to 3pm: 33.7 miles | 3pm to 5pm: 25.5 miles

The National Hurricane Center has landfall over or near Vero Beach, 101 miles from the 5:00 PM Eastern position.
At it's current speed from now beyond 8 hours... landfall will be between Midnight and 12:30 AM Eastern.

However, NHC has 118 miles of movement for the next 12 hours. That comes to 9.83 mph. That would make
landfall in 10 hours, 16 minutes from 5:00 PM Eastern.

the satellite eclipse ;)

Yes, unfortunately it's likely that the satellite eclipse will be in progress when landfall takes place.

The eclipse goes from 11:45 PM to 2:45 AM Eastern.

Jeanne has moved due west 18.3 miles in the last two hours (between 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm). This is a 3.6 mph slow down.
