Ridge of high pressure...

#1 Postby frederic79 » Sat Sep 25, 2004 6:47 pm

Seems like if indeed the ridge has eroded as forecast Jeanne would be slowing down some but forward speed remains 14 mph. On radar, motion still looks to be 270 or due west to me. Does anybody have information showing the position and strength of the ridge currently and where the western periphery that Jeanne will follow actually is? Looking at the WV loops, I see dry air pushing all the way into southen AL and MS from the east. Does this have anything whatsoever to do with the ridge steering Jeanne?

Good question, I have been wondering that myself. I am having a time trying to decipher on the WV image loop where the high is and which way is it pushing. The motion seems to be almost due west still. Any experts here please comment.

It seems like it is holding strong to me, especially in the northern part.
look for the official track to be shifted slightly west and south at 11pm
