Pirogue time in Louisiana....

#1 Postby MGC » Fri Oct 08, 2004 1:51 pm

No doubt this system is going to dump a ton of rain on you good folks over in south Louisiana the next couple of days. Time to launch the pirogue! Yep, I miss those days growing up in eastern New Orleans. We only had one pumping station back in those days and a good heavy rain would cause street flooding. My brothers would drag out the pirogue and we would go floating down the street. We even had our picture in the Times Picayune out in our boat.....MGC

Your not kidding. When I left my house this morning the yard was damp, but nothing like the lake I came home to. Ditches are overflowing and water is coming up over some roadways.

No kidding. I grew up in Kenilworth (in 'na east, bra) myself. I wonder how many people can actually pronounce pirogue?

after pirouge, we can probably add Vermillion to your question, Steve, as well as St. Amant, Tangipahoa, Tchoupitoulas . . . .
