Can you "feel" the tropical nature?

This sounds silly, but in the past when a hurricane or tropical storm was approaching I could feel it. I mean I could feel the change as the rain or clouds came in, but the storm was still far away. It seems to be a different atmosphere or feeling. Do you know what I mean? Today with all the rain from Matthew it doesn't "feel" like a TS. It just seems like a normal rainy day.

I think I know what you mean! It's just a rainy, dreary day here in NOLA. I think because there is no what i like to call bluster. It was a bit windy earlier today when I was walking through the Walmart parking lot and my umbrella went inside-out, but there's really not that blustery feel to the place.

Matt's been a dud all around so far.

If you want bluster...come to Dauphin Island...It's been absolutely blustery today...winds have been steady in the 25mph range and gusting to 35mph for about 24 hours with "sand bullets" to exfoliate bare skin and water rising throughout the day...now covering a good bit of the west end making the road impassable for about the westernmost 3 miles of the inhabited part of the island...I'm keeping an eye on the water level and may have to move my car to "higher ground" (that's a hoot!) if the tides breach the non-existent dune line.
