It's actually the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer, otherwise known as MODIS. There are 2 of these instruments, one aboard Terra, the other on Aqua. These are NASA satellites being used mostly for research purposes, but they have also had some real-time applications. The resolution can be as high as 250m, which is about the best a meteorological instrument can do now. I found the other image yesterday on the rapidfire site (http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/gallery/). These are wave clouds and vortices induced by these small islands (Crozet Islands), which are located in the Indian Ocean. Anyway, last night I was going through a presentation I'm giving today on my research involving Lili and MODIS data, so I thought I'd play a little game to see if anyone could recognize the storm. Nice job!
