Hurricanes=fire in Orlando

#1 Postby hurricanetrack » Fri Feb 18, 2005 11:13 pm

Well, it wasn't much of a stretch to believe that fire would soon follow the hurricanes in Florida. My Disney vacation "stinks" now that the forest near Great Sand Lake is ablaze.

You should see it- ash is falling all over Disney like light snow. Smoke fills the air and makes it difficult to breathe without it burning your nose a little.

I cannot tell you how many trees are down or dead nearby- you have to see it to believe it. I plan on taking numerous photos tomorrow and will post them on hurricanetrack.com on the way home.

Perhaps the beginning of my 2005 DVD will open with yet another scene from Orlando. Except this time it won't be Dr. Gray and his prophecy- but rather an intro showing "the hell on earth that the hurricanes left behind."

Who would have thought it??? And the hot, dry season is not even here yet.

I'll be back in FL many times this year before June 1 ever gets here. My guess is that this fire won't be the last that I document as the effects of the triplet hurricanes live on.

Yeah, and looking at those drought maps Orlando isn't near where the worst of it is. That's down here :( . We're over 600.

Photo of fire near Disney

#3 Postby hurricanetrack » Sat Feb 19, 2005 1:11 am

Here is a photo of one of the fires near the entrance to WDW at the Cross Roads area (exit 74???) I also have some great video but will have to wait to upload that once I get back home.

All seems to be under control- but you can clearly see the broken trees in the photo- providing plenty of fuel for the fire. Sorry it is such a big photo- but I have not loaded PhotoShop on this machine yet and the photo is gigantic.
