1911-1914 Reanalysis complete at AOML ...

#1 Postby Stormsfury » Fri Mar 18, 2005 4:05 pm

5 new tropical systems were added in this time period, an additional 19 were discussed, but surprisingly enough, no evidence was found for 1914 that there were any other tropical systems other than the lone existing one that formed in Sept 1914 (though that tropical storm was reanalyzed at 70 MPH, not 50 MPH.)

thanks again for the link...1912 proved particularly interesting. i am sure we have all read most of the historical literature on storms. in tannehill(all editions), he refers to a devastating hurricane landfalling at black river falls in late november. most certainly a major...and unisys carries it as a cat 3/4. however, the reanalysis weather maps depict a minimum pressure of only 995mb.......?????.....any comments...........rich

That was probably the lowest pressure that was recorded some distance away from the actual center's path ...
