Do Hurricanes prefer shallow bays and harbors for landfall?
In terms of landfall probabilities, I wonder if any research shows that hurrricanes have any preferences for landfall, such as Charlotte Bay ( Charley), or Charleston Harbor (Hugo)? Is there a set of geographical conditions that makes it more encouraging for a storm to make landfall in one area versus another?? It has been said that the Space Center was build on Cape Canaveral, as it was deemed less hospitable for a hurricane to landfall there. Any truth to this concept?
