Great news. Stacy Stewart, Hurricane Specialist & Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the National Hurricane Center, will join us on the TalkinTropics program on Tuesday, March 29th, starting at 8:30PM. This will be his first appearance on the Radio NHCWX network.

Just to make sure you saw his bio I posted before:
In 1960, Hurricane Donna snapped off Stacy Stewart's favorite climbing tree.
"I was amazed wind could do something like that," he says. He was hooked.
Born in Miami, he grew up when hurricanes hit Florida regularly. He remembers his stepfather telling him he'd read about a tropical disturbance in the newspaper.
"He'd say, "It's going to come here. When they're at that latitude they always come this way." I was like 'Dad, how did you know that?' I was fascinated with his simplistic way of explaining the weather."
His stepfather, a Navy veteran, also told intriguing stories of typhoons he'd seen in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. Stewart joined the Navy and studied meteorology.
He has served as the acting director or deputy director twice at the Navy's Joint Typhoon Warning Center in the Pacific and once at the alternate warning center.
Stewart, 49, has worked for the National Weather Service since 1978, shortly after leaving active duty. He earned a master's degree at the University of Oklahoma.
In crisp slacks, tasseled black loafers and a white dress sweater during an afternoon interview, Stewart is the spiffiest of the specialists.
He is military in his bearing and in his storm forecasting. His co-workers say he often mentions worst-case scenarios in his forecasts to make sure people are prepared.
He is the warning and coordination meteorologist, coordinating with other countries to recommend when and where to adopt watch and warning areas.
If he could change one thing about forecasting, Stewart says it would be to improve the ability to forecast rapid intensity increases. It's still hard to know why a storm like Charley gets stronger just before it hits land.
Married, he's the father of three, one still at home.
In his spare time, Stewart exercises to stay fit. He also enjoys "keeping the yard nice" and loves flowering plants.

Just as an update we did reconfirm within the last hour...Stacy will be on tonight starting at 8:30PM EST. We had a bit of a scare...he was expecting to be on his way up to Melborne for a confrence tomorrow...but he was able to adjust his schedule to accomodate us...
