The record low for Miami on Sat. morning is 58 set back in 1941.
The record low for Ft.Lauderdale on Fri. morning is 55 set back in 1928.
The record low for West Palm Beach on Fri. morning is 57 set back in 28 & the record low for Sat. morning is 56 set back in 1960.
What does all this mean you are asking???
Every year you see listed with the May record lows was also a year that brought a major hurricane to South Florida.
The 28 Lake Okeechobee Hurricane,1941 Miami Hurricane & 1960 Donna.
I find it interesting that despite the fact that South Florida recieved quite the cool down for mid May which means a strong trough must have been responsible.Later in those years enough ridging was in place to bring hurricanes to some part of South Florida. All those hurricanes came from the east.
This tells me even more not to put too much emphasis in the weather pattern in May to see what might happen later.

Yep. There's plenty of time for the pattern to change before the heart of the season.
Here's hoping 2005 isn't a repeat of one of thoses years, though.
