Completely amazing pictures Matt. I don't think we will have to deal with a storm of those proportions though. ;) At least....I hope not this early in the season. :eek:

mitch made landfall as a category 1 hurricane in the area and still caused those deaths.

There will be significant loss of life, unfortunately from this one as this si not exactly setting any world speed records

Remember Hurricane Paul in 1982?

As a TD, Paul dumped torrential rain in Guatemala, causing more than 1000 deaths. Paul then developed into a Category 2 hurricane and struck Mexico, killing 8.

I say we are dealing with a 70 knot hurricane. Nice eye forming on Visible satellite. Cat2 or 85 knots at landfall is my forecast.

NOt so fast as they are a little conservative.According to the SSD dvorak sat estimates a 3.0 means 45 kts.Let's see how the models do in their guidance intensity forecast.
