Two fatalities in Miami area

#1 Postby KBBOCA » Fri Jun 10, 2005 11:57 am

It seems Arlene has already been deadly...

This morning I heard something about a drowning in Miami Beach due to strong rip tides, and then on the noon news, there was a report of a fatal traffic accident in Miami, also likely to be attributed to Arlene and the heavy rainfall Miami has been experiencing all morning.

Just goes to show that sometimes deadly effects of even a mild storm occur far from wherever "landfall" actually occurs. A tragic reminder.

There was a school bus crash in Boca Raton this morning... 30 kids on board ages 6-13(or something like that). 6 critically injured. Apparently collided with a semi. Have no idea if it's weather-related but the roads were slick so it probably contributed. :(

Brent, yeah, that bus/truck crash happened just about 1 1/2 miles from my home. We actually had almost no rain here in Boca this morning (it's beginning to pick up a bit), so roads were mostly dry and that accident probably won't get charged to Arlene. So far the initial reports suggest it was a driver error problem due to a sudden lane change.
