Interesting Blobs but....

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Interesting Blobs but....

#1 Postby Stormcenter » Thu Jun 23, 2005 8:48 am

There are a couple of interesting blobs (Tropical Waves) this morning in the Carribean. Neither one seems to be in any rush to move anywhere which may work in their benefit for any chance of development. I'm not holding my breath though expecting either one to develop in the short term.

This is an excerpt from the NHC TWD at 8:05 this morning, which pretty much explains the blobs you see:

THE CARIBBEAN SEA...
A SLOWLY-MOVING MID/UPPER LEVEL TROUGH IS LOCATED BETWEEN
JAMAICA AND HAITI NEAR 18N76W SOUTHWARD TO THE COAST OF NW
COLOMBIA. SOME MIDDLE TO UPPER LEVEL DRY AIR SURROUNDS THIS
TROUGH. DEVELOPING UPPER HIGH NEAR 17N69W IS ENHANCING THE
PRECIPITATION ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE WHICH RUNS
FROM HAITI TO 14N74W TO COLOMBIA NEAR 8N74W. A CENTRAL
ATLANTIC MIDDLE TO UPPER LEVEL TROUGH RUNS SOUTHWESTWARD
TO ITS BASE IN THE EAST CENTRAL CARIBBEAN SEA. AN UPPER
RIDGE PROTRUDES EAST OF BELIZE TO JUST SW OF JAMAICA AND THE
NORTHEASTERLY WIND FLOW TO THE SOUTH OF THE AXIS ALONG WITH
A TROPICAL WAVE IS PROVIDING A DIFFLUENT FLOW ENVIRONMENT
FOR WIDELY SCATTERED TSTMS THAT HAVE BLOSSOMED OVER THE
SW CARIBBEAN. UPPER TROUGH IS POKING INTO THE LEEWARD
ISLANDS...KEEPING THE CONVECTION MINIMAL THOUGH THIS SHOULD
CHANGE OVERNIGHT AS DEEPER MOISTURE ENTERS THE AREA.

The one south of Hati, is associated with 94L and looks more interesting to me, but so far no signs of development.
