Landfall at 130 mph would make Dennis the strongest hurricane to landfall on Cuba since Michelle in 2001. Michelle was at 135 mph.

I remember being in the southern eyewall of Jeanne last year. That was no picnic. I can hardly imagine what it must be like there with winds about 20 mph worse. Good luck to all.

You weren't even in the strongest part then... northern eyewall is more intense, so it's probably closer to 30 or 40 mph stronger.

Dennis becomes the first major hurricane to make landfall in Eastern Cuba since Flora, 1963.

Uh... it's hitting EASTERN Cuba. :wink: Western had Charley last year...

Hard for a landfall on the Isle of Youth when most likely Dennis will exit Cuba east of Havana.
