Can I just say a few words?

#1 Postby wx247 » Sun Jul 10, 2005 7:18 pm

Everyone is parading around like this thing is over... may I remind you that it is not. While this hurricane is now inland will be downgraded shortly we need to keep in mind that while the tracking is over... the worst part is really just beginning. We all need to keep this in mind and say a prayer tonight for those who have felt the wrath of Hurricane Dennis... from Haiti to the US mainland. Just thought I needed to say something.

...and also for those likely to experience flooding rains and possible tornadoes as Dennis continues to march farther inland.

Dennis is not over here... and I'm not in the worst conditions. Not a nice night to go anywhere. Gusty winds and rain. Major yuck. A few trees have been reported down.

Conditions are much worse about 150 miles west of here as the remnants of the eyewall push rapidly northward with tornado warnings.

In a half hour, weather permitting, I will sit down and watch an hour of TV that's not weather-related. Something I haven't done in days...

i just ran across this story of a guy in fll being killed today when he stepped a downed line.

dont go outside in the water, dont let the kids play in the water and if you see a downed line assume its live. during Irene some kids were walked in water and it was hot and 4 or 5 of them were electrocuted.

Good post... Just because the storm has passed the coast doesnt mean there are no longer any dangers...

I wonder if that person has ever heard the word Hepatitis. I don't think they stress enough the dangers inherent in walking through contaminated water where people have septic tanks.

If you could hear the wind and the rain outside here you would know that this storm is not over!

We're in west central Alabama and expect what is left of the eye to come over us in an hour or so.

Thankfully we still have power, but that will likely change when the 50-plus mph winds bring down trees and limbs on power lines.

|We're just so glad the worst is over for the coastal areas.

Yes, this system may have some horrible flooding potential as it stalls over the next few days. Not fun at all.
