Western Atlantic Tropical Summary - WATS UP on August 13, 2005

<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/wats20050813.jpg">

The western Atlantic features two tropical waves moving westward
across the Caribbean sea today. Neither of these will develop into
tropical cyclones.

Tropical Storm Irene was covered in a special WATS UP this morning.

Invest 96L continues to trek westward and shows signs of development.
This will likely become a tropical depression today. There is a lot of
dry air to the north and west of Invest 96L, which will be an inhibiting
factor for development. I suspect we will only see slow development for
the next 24-48 hours.

The upper level low to the North of 96L should not play much of a role
in 96L's future. It may slow development a little, but as 96L moves
westward, this influence will abate.
