Claudette is back! I got to fly in an American Eagle prop-jet going to DFW to connect to a flight to BOS for my grandmother's funeral. (She was 99 years old, was laid near her mother who had immigrated from Galway, and died of cancer when Grandma was an infant, and her son, the uncle I never had, whom I'm named for, who died of cystic fibrosis, in the old cemetery in Marshfield, MA) through the outer-most rain showers as Claudette approached the coast farther South, and broke into complete sunshine about half way to Dallas.

The closest I'll ever come to a Hurricane Hunter mission.

Image Here's to an exciting season of hurricane watching, where storms threaten from afar, to appease the adrenalin-loving folks, then turn and affect nobody. There's been so much destruction lately and some of us have had more than our fair share.

Have a safe hurricane season!

Absolutely agree. The loss experienced by so many and shattered communities, it's heartbreaking. Hope everyone stays safe this Season.

Lets hope for a Busy (Fish) season and not a US coastline landfall.

Residents from Florida to Texas need a break.

Just remember those along the Mississippi coastline, if you see us fly all 10 planes out FAST, that's hint to get out.

I didn't see this posted elsewhere and thought it was pretty cool. It's a time lapse of the entire 2008 huricane season from NASA-GOES. Links:
