Not to be rude, but if you don't want to discuss the possible impacts of this storm...yes, now a storm...and possible tract to S. Fla, there are other threads to participate in. Shutting down discussions seems kinda like the opposite of the point of a discussion board.
We have major damage in the Keys, construction materials and debris everywhere, hundreds of people homeless...yes, homeless, people living in their cars for pete's sake. Even a tropical storm is going to be a major deal. We didn't have the destruction of Katrina on the Gulf Coast, of course, but if your home is destroyed, it's a big deal that any storm is brewing and south of us.
Just my 2 cents and reaction to people basically saying "shut up."

I also have been here in Florida for ALL of these hurricanes, all I was suggesting is that this information could be discussed in the other thread. Also, when ALL of the pro-mets on this board agree with something, I tend to want to listen to them.
Seems we often have local impacts/track possibility threads for specific areas.
But like I said, did not mean to diss anybody. Wanted to show some support. SFLa needs to watch this closer than say, Texas, it seems.

I have Respect for all the promets on this forum however come on they aren't the ones working for the NHC. The NHC is the only offical resource for TC information. yes the promets here make their forcasts and everything and its fun to see how they do with a system however when it comes to makeing life or death choices you HAVE to stick with what the NHC says! With this system giving the facts the promets here are prob. right but you never know. The NHC is forcasting a 50 to 60kts TS hitting south Florida it may or may not happen but this point thats what you have to go by!

I guess I'm not making myself clear. I live in south florida, so I know exactly
who to listen to and who not to when it comes to these hurricanes. Did I ever say that the NHC was not correct in their assesment of the situation; no I did not. I was just SUGGESTING that this could be included with the other topic. Being that we already have alot of topics on the storm.

I just looked at the official NHC forecast -- 55 kt tropical storm with us on the front-ride side, though thankfully some distance to the east, in 72 hours.
We have many sailboats on temporary moorings because our destroyed docks are being rebuilt. My boat is still in someone's yard where Wilma tossed it, at least I had a crane out yesterday and it's no longer completely beached. I have huge unstable ficus branches resting on my fence and others hanging over the roof. Today a neighbor was trying to bring down large broken mahogany branches dangling over his yard. Paper had stories about all the people who are living in partially destroyed mobile homes and sleeping in their cars. Businesses are suffering, thousands of traps have been destroyed, my buddy who owns a hotel had no revenue for a month. We are exposed and more vulnerable to even TS conditions. Might seem like we're paranoid or overreacting, but even a windy day right now would not be a good thing. Many barely have the energy to prepare. No surprise our focus is going to be intense and a little frantic.

This is a major concern I would agree. Another being that FEMA is virtually "broke". They are unable to aid those folks who lost everything in LA, Ms, and Texas not to forget those already affected in Fla. All anyone needs is another storm to add to the mix, even a small storm with the disrepair of homes and businesses can have a major effect.
I would be concerned if I lived in Fla. and would definitly begin keeping track of Gamma.(UUGGHHH I cannot believe I am even writing that name down!)

Agreed. Sorry about your damage too.
I'm going to take one of my dog's tranquilizers and go have a drink. Catch you all later.
