I realize this is stating the obvious, but is anyone working on such a system? Can they have it media-ready by, say, 8:00 CDT tonight?
I can't see how this would help things. The media already routinely goofs up even the simple classification system they have now. Making it more complex is just asking for trouble.

Man, just something like "It's a hurricane STUPID - get out of the way".
That's about the only classification system you need, IMNSHO.

Actually, that would be 0.31 N 0.67 W. I used a longer time frame to reduce the wobble error. It would probably be more accurate at a longer time frame, but too long and you lose significance on current motion direction.
