Climatologically the mean activity in the basin occurs from late August through October. Some storms have frequently formed before August, but the greatest activity occurs during September and October (with other concentrations in late August and November). During most years, you should expect the season's peak formations of tropical cyclones during this period.

I think we'll see a weak tropical storm or two form around the Yucatan in June/July, but yeah the REAL stuff shouldn't start until August.

hard to believe we are LESS THAN FOUR WEEKS away! That is amazing. It feels like we have had an extended break though, because for the first time in a long time a season was inactive for me. 2006 was the first time I was not directly impacted by a tropical storm or hurricane since the 2002 hurricane season.
