Agreed, though no doubt those at the NHC are waiting to make sure it doesn't poof in the next 24hr become declaring it anything.

its likely been a td for 48 hour..

Even if it would poof in 24 hours, if it is a tropical depression or storm then shouldn't it be named? I wasn't aware of a requirement for naming a storm being that it had to be near land or assured of lasting more than x amount of time. This seems dishonest of NHC. Maybe it isn't a TD or TS but I would at least like to hear the NHCs reasoning.

Is it invest-worthy? Probably. Is it a TD or TS? Probably not. There is no real evidence that this is the case outside of one ASCAT pass...

Still looks good but getting closer to the shear wall. Even thou this wave will not develop at this time,as others have mentioned,it is a good early sign of things to come in the MDR area when things turn active in August.

I had a look at it today and it did not appear to be a TD. Really couldn't get a Dvorak number on it, convection was that disorganized

Are there any good websites that show the waves coming off of Africa? No sites I've found so far show anything other than what is around the US. Thanks!

You can check http://www.stormcarib.com/
Click on the satellite image on the home page and it takes you to a series of GOES images and a chart of Atlantic conditions, showing whatever tropical waves there may be.

SHOWER ACTIVITY INCREASED DURING THE MORNING IN ASSOCIATION WITH A
TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED ABOUT 850 MILES EAST OF THE LESSER ANTILLES.
UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE NOT FAVORABLE FOR ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT...
AND THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW CHANCE...NEAR 0 PERCENT...OF BECOMING
A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

Finally a mention in the TWO! Funny thing is, in the last couple hours, some new deep convection has fired up over the low center co-located with the wave. Still heading into an area of significant shear and likely to get shredded. But it does look fairly healthy in terms of low structure and now, convection, and the waters are only getting warmer as it heads WNW!
