Memories indeed - just waiting for the next one that I can chase. I guess there is always the wonder of what a stronger hurricane would now be like. I have to say, I learnt a lot from Isabel that would be very handy chasing down something stronger. It also means that we can bring the experiences to those who would prefer to get out of the way or who don't get the chance to chase these systems in the first place. I just love the whole chasing experience. If there are no more hurricanes, will have to wait for May next year and the tornado season!!!

Thank you so much ChaserUK--------Your website was the very best!!!

It was so realistic that I was actually frightened-------maybe I should NOT go to Florida to chase a Cat 1 Cane!!!!

You did a very good job on that site and I hope that we can find a way to help you chase other hurricanes here in the US!!! Your coverage was spectacular!!!

I linked to it at my ProBoard, The Science Forum.

I think you should make Cane Chasing one of your greater priorities. I personally look forward to your next chase!!!!!!

Virginia Beach is one of my favorite places!!! You covered it well!! I can recognize a few of the locations in the photos.

Hi Jeb,

I must admit I pan to return back to V. Beach one day when the weather is "better".

One thing that we must do mat is document our equipment that we took on the chase as I feel that we based this too much on a supercell / tornado chase.

Sure we needed the laptop and the Kestrel 4000 - but the Boltec sferic detector was not used. I still plan to set up a proper weather station and data logger for the next one.

Also what about the wet weather gear and protection? My Cam corder is still playing up after injesting to much water and some sort of water proof trousers would have helped.

Eye protection is a must, Chaser went with hardware eye goggles - I stayed faithful to my Okleys. Steve went with out.

Over all we learnt some good lessens out of this trip - which will only serve us well for the next one.

Indeed, thanks for very kind words Jeb!!! Yes, the goggles were an absolute god send to be honest with you. At least I was able to keep my eyes open whilst being blasted by sand. However, the power of the wind forced water in through the ventalation holes! I had to keep taking them off and pouring the water out! Certainly if any other hurricanes look like hitting the US I will be giving it serious consideration but it looks more and more likely we will have to wait for the next season! Then again, the tornado season up before then so will have to let you all know how that pans out. Perhaps if anyone is interested in meeting up then we can go get ourselves some supercell storms!

Well just had my interview and photoshoot with the local newspaper now - getting quite used to this sort of thing! It went quite well and they were really interested in the story - I guess I did not realise just how bizarre UK people think guys like me are! Anyway, once the story has been published, will scan or attach or email something here (if its good ?!) KUDOS to Jim Bartlett, SIPA Press, NY for all of this - great guy - really is!

Regards

yeah just messin....i give you props for traveling 3000 miles to a storm. The extra two hour drive on to the outer banks would have been the icing on the cake. If you didn't check out that video, download it and take a look...its intense.

I have seen the video and thought it was a tad risky out there. To be honest, by the time we got to Norfolk and to our hotel etc I don't think we would have had time to drive down there but I know what your saying!!
