The entire arc of the SE half of the storm is located over the Gulf Stream from south of the Keys all the way up the coast. This huge SE band is feeding 87* SST's into the center. If anything, the storm is being disrupted because half is over land while the other half is over some of the best conditions possible. This could throw the storm's structure off and result in the dislocated banding you are seeing on IR satellite...
